About us
Who are we? Lifelong travellers… empty-nesters… part of the post-pandemic Great Resignation. We love music, culture and the nice things in life, like good food and a glass of fine wine to go with it. Chris had a train set as a boy and has never lost his love of trains. For Jackie, it’s boats, although they need to have sails and not be too big. Don’t get her started on cruise liners…
Half the fun of travelling is researching where to go, working out how to get there and doing things in the company of locals. That’s how we like to scratch the surface of a country and start to get to grips with our varied and vast planet. Travelling is about savouring the best of nature, people and cultures.
So for us, travel isn’t organised tours, or lazing by the pool without leaving the all-inclusive compound. But equally, it’s certainly not a competitive exercise in visiting the greatest number of countries, seeing the most sights, or putting ourselves (and others) at risk by going to countries dangerous for tourists.
Anyway, after lots of prompting from friends, we came to the conclusion that there must be plenty of like-minded people who would enjoy reading our travel tales, and we set about creating this website. So we hope you’ll enjoy dipping into our digital diary, that it might inspire you, and also be useful for your own trip research.
